
n 2006 the Mountaineer HBPA created a Scholarship Fund for children of Mountaineer horsemen. Two $1,000.00 scholarships were awarded in 2006.
Our purpose is to encourage and assist eligible candidates to further their education.
In 2007, the HBPA Board of Directors awarded three $1500 educational scholarships.
In 2008, the HBPA Board of Directors once again voted to offer three $1500 educational scholarships

► Purpose of the Fund
The purpose of the Educational Fund of the H.B.P.A. is to encourage and assist eligible candidates to further their education. The fund is for all intents and purposes to aide in financial assistance to achieve this goal.
► Value of Assistance
The scholarships will be limited to three (3) recipients with a value of $1,500.00 each.
► Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must be a Graduating Senior with a minimum cumulative 3.0 Grade Point Average upon completion of High School, or a currently enrolled student at an educational institution with a 3.0 Grade Point Average.
Applicants must be accepted and registered as a full or part time student that leads to a recognized degree, diploma or certification from an educational institution.
The applicant must be a child (natural, adopted or step child) of a current member of the Mountaineer HBPA licensed as a Trainer, Assistant Trainer, Groom, Hot Walker, Pony Person, or Exercise Rider at Mountaineer Race Track. The applicant may also be a child (natural, adopted or step child) of a deceased of the same, provided that the licensee died while a member in good standing.
(Proof of eligibility must be provided with a completed application)
Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee independent of the HBPA
